The Corps of 学员 carry out the true meaning of community
维吉尼亚州的韦恩斯伯勒 The Corps of 学员 from 费什伯恩 Military School (FMS) joined in community events to spread holiday cheer, 和 most importantly, held the Wreaths Across America Ceremony to honor fallen Veterans of America on Wednesday, 12月14日, 2022.
Wreaths Across America honors the fallen Veterans of the United States of America in 3,400 participating locations. Wreaths are sponsored 和 donated to be placed on the graves of fallen Veterans. The first portion of the ceremony was held in the gym at 费什伯恩 Military School.
Cadet Aiden Bowman who narrated the ceremony said, “We do this as part of a national effort to remember 和 honor deceased Veterans, called Wreaths Across America. 本周, thous和s of wreaths donated by American citizens are being laid on Veteran graves across America. We proudly join those efforts. 昨天, we received six wreaths from this great national effort, 和 we will use them today to honor deceased members of the United States Armed Forces.”
FMS dedicated one wreath each to the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, 和 Coast Guard. In placing each wreath, the 学员 和 费什伯恩 Family recognized every individual servicemember from that service who died. The final wreath was dedicated to all alumni 和 friends of 费什伯恩 Military School who served in the Armed Forces but have since passed away.
Six 学员 presented 和 saluted each wreath, 和 the FMS b和 played Service songs in honor of each. 形成后, Cadet leadership laid each wreath on a grave of a fallen Veteran at Riverview Cemetery in Waynesboro的. The final wreath was presented 和 set on the gravesite of Professor James A. 费什伯恩 to recognize all the 学员 that attended 费什伯恩 和 later served in the Armed Forces. The playing of Taps concluded the ceremony.
FMS JROTC Instructor, LTC Christopher Wingate USA (RET) said, “秋天en Veterans are real people with real stories. They 和 their families sacrificed 和 missed holidays 和 birthdays, 第一步, 大游戏, 和 concerts to secure the liberties we enjoy as Americans. This day is a way to thank all Veterans who have died, 尊重他们的服务, 和 remind each other of the real human costs of freedom. I am grateful that 费什伯恩 Military School takes the responsibility to remember this seriously.”
In addition to Wreaths Across America, FMS 学员 marched in Downtown Staunton, Waynesboro的, 和 Stuarts Draft holiday parades, totaling three parades in two weeks.
另外, JROTC 学员 organized a Teddy Bear Drive to collect 和 gift teddy bears to children in local hospitals. 社区成员, including Waynesboro的 Police Department, 爱德华琼斯房地产公司, 和 the Ruritan Club, donated bears for the cause. Cadet Ryan Legg emphasized that of all the fundraisers they could have chosen, this one stood out as most meaningful to the Corps. The 学员 collected 180 bears 和 will continue to accept bear donations through January 2023.
